Here is BUCTBASE, and I have something to say!#
Hi everyone, here is BUCTBASE, a website that shares various resources related to courses at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Maybe many of you have used our website to search for information, or maybe not yet. But trust me, you can directly visit our website - buctbase.com - to see the content we provide! (No need for any forwarding or promotion!) However, if you want to help us, please keep reading!
We share all kinds of resources we have collected on a completely non-profit basis: Since the reconstruction of the website nearly two years ago, we have not received any funding or placed any advertisements. We believe that accessing resources should not have any barriers, and we believe that the spirit of openness on the Internet will not disappear.
However, yesterday, one of the most well-known resource download sites, RARBG, announced its closure. After the COVID-19 pandemic, they suffered from the serious impact of team members' deaths and the aftermath, as well as multiple difficulties such as wars and economic pressures. These difficulties made it increasingly difficult to maintain and operate the website, so they had to choose to shut it down. The brilliance of the Internet age seems to be gradually fading. But we still firmly believe that the spirit of an open, equal, collaborative, fast, and shared Internet will never die, and that free cyberspace will never disappear. We hope to inherit their volunteerism, continue to do our best, share everything we have, and serve everyone.
Compared to the huge amount of traffic provided by their website, our costs are not too high. Our website is designed purely on the front-end using a SAAS platform, and the file content is stored on a file service platform provided by Microsoft. After the reconstruction, it has reached a state of minimal consumption, and the overall expenses are within our acceptable range. With our website operating and maintaining at a relatively low cost, in the past year, we have successfully provided nearly 100,000 file downloads, helping to share the materials we have collected with more and more students.
Most of our materials come from uploads by students, spanning over ten years. From the FTP materials provided by the Student Network Center cabinet, to the materials passed on by senior students to GitHub and Alibaba Cloud, to the reconstruction of the website that I received and the collaboration with the buddies from Zhadui Study Society to organize the materials, we have worked together to fill in the gaps and basically completed the collection and organization of most of the materials related to university studies. Among the materials, some are obtained directly from teachers, some are uploaded by students, and some are midterm and final exam materials that we edited and organized together. We thank all the students and teachers who have provided materials and helped us in various ways. However, due to the complex sources of the materials, we cannot guarantee clean copyrights and clear ownership. Therefore, we will never use these materials for marketing and commercial activities (just like certain confession walls). We also continuously accept Take Down Requests from teachers - you can request us to delete these materials by sending a private message through the WeChat public account backend or by sending an email to zhadui@buctbase.com.
Now, we need people to know about our existence - accessing the materials does not require forwarding to Moments or following marketing accounts. We can directly visit our website - buctbase.com - to use it freely. However, your forwarding means that more people can know what we are doing and allow more people to access the vast sea of learning.
Now, we need students to contribute their own materials, so that the trickle can merge into the lake and the sea - the specific operation methods can be found on our website! In a few days, we may also synchronize the tutorial to WeChat!
Now, we need more volunteers to help us organize the content - having materials is not enough. Only by putting the materials in the right place can they exert their maximum effect. We need volunteers to help us organize the content, fill in the gaps, and improve the current deficiencies and shortcomings together! In a few days, we will also send out new pushes to introduce how to become a volunteer! You can also directly send us a private message on the WeChat public account or join the group to contact us directly!
Finally - I wish you all a happy Children's Day! May your final exams go smoothly! May you all achieve good results!
